Mirrorproblem

I have a 2000 excursion limited and it seems that the passenger mirror is a
telescoping one that is exteneded. For the life of me I can't get it to go back in.
Any ideas. I just recently bought it and didn't notice it at the time.

squirting wd and maybe tapping the top and bottom comes to mind?

I've tried that and also took a piece of metal banding and worked it around the shafts.
It is solid. Any easy way to get in there without tearing off the truck?

You sure they are extended? When I first got my X I thought they were but I was wrong.

I have a 2000 Ltd also. If the mirror is extended you will see red triangular arrows on the shaft that the mirror slides on. They are there so that you can slide both mirrors out equally. Even with them slid all the way in, they do stick out there quite a bit

I have a hard time believing that it came with just the drivers side telescoping. With the drivers side extended they are out the same distance. But I do notice that the driver side swivels front and back and the passager just goes back.
