I have a 2000 V10 excursion. It has 104000 miles. Being new to the 4r100 auto,
how many times is it suposed to shift? Seems that I get 4 from 1st to OD. Is this right? I had a 1991 ford f250 7.3 with auto OD and it did the same thing.
Like there was a 2 stage shift at 3rd and OD.
That's normal. Its not an extra shift, its the torque converter clutch engaging. It just feels like a shift. When the torque converter's clutch engages, it eliminates the torque converter's normal slip.
The shift sequence is: 1-2, 2-3, TCC engagement, 3-4.
