I'm looking for a neat and clean way to install a Sirius streamer and antenna in my '06 F350, XLT, reg cab. I want to avoid a bunch of wires hanging around, maybe power it through an upfitter switch insted of the lighter.
I also have in my gallery pictures of my XM install in my 2003 Ecursion.
The above sites have galleries of photos of many different trucks and cars and a great place to choose how you want to do it. Also check out the audio section of FTE.
Ran mine out the 3rd brake light, real easy and dont have to drop the headliner just pull the weather seal. Crutchfield has a unit for 50 bucks with the antenna that looks like a radar detector. Real small! Could suction it high by the roof line and rout power to it up there easy an noone would even see it o and free shipping. here's the link here
I install them in Freightliners all day long and the SD is even easier. I use the suction cup mount in the lower left windshield along the A pillar and run the wires through the gap right at the pillar where it meets the dash. Antennae goes down and then as posted previously, run it up the weatherstrip to the roof. A good tug pulls it down and puts it up. The FM transmitter wire is simply fished behind the dash and the power along the dash underside and up to the cigarette lighter. Simple, easy, no wires, and about 30 minutes. If you care too, simply hardwire the power at that point - the rest of the wires are hidden and the recievers location is in your peripheral and easy to use without taking your eyes off the road or obstructing your vision. Benefit is easy viewing by your passenger and the use of the remote. This is my installation, yours may differ
I have a Kenwood Sirius Radio and I ran the antenna up throught the bolt holes for the dash. Pry up the cover (next to the winshield) and you will see them. Mine is mounted on the dash in front of me,next to the windshield, and it works great.
