Well, it's time to move forums. I bought a 2006 F150 XLT last night and I love it. It's got all of the same features as my 2001 Lariat with the exeption of power leather seats. To be honest though I don't like leather any way. Thanks for all of the advise on my 01', it really came in handy.
Come back and visit us. Sure do like the looks of the new interiors, let us know how you like the truck. I'd go for one, but my ole truck is just too nice still. Rob
The new truck is great, I'm really enjoying it so far. The ride is incredible and the seats are a lot more comfortable than the 01'. I was driving home from work today and I was doing 80 and didn't even realize it until I looked at the speedometer. I still can't believe the deal I got on it, Fords new lease plan is the way to go if you know your always going to have a truck payment any way.
I wanted one of the new F150's when I bought my 2000 F150 4X4 4.6 one year ago this month. The reason that I searched out my 2000 model was that in the new trucks a manual transmission is not available except in a V6 two wheel drive.
I am a manual transmission man all the way.
Enjoy your new truck. I fully expect that it will serve you well. They have done a great job on the new design.
Ok, so now you have the pretty new 06....and you are just going to up and leave us? Just when we were getting somewhere in our relationship?....Go ahead and be that way....and enjoy that new toy of yours!
Come back and tell us how to retrofit the new 06 motor into our trucks!!! Then we can call ours "Powered By 06".....
I'll be doing the same myself. I ordered my 06 XLT SC yesterday so my 98 4x4 is up for sale. I got every option except sunroof, back up sensor and nerf bars I think. 5.4L, towing pkg, 3.73 LS, CD changer, power seat, aluminum wheels, larger OWL tires, two tone Wedgewood Blue over Arizona Biege, deluxe mirrors, OH rail storage system, fog lights and 35.7 gal gas tank. I don't think I missed much!
I will say I am going to miss the 98 though, it has been a very reliable truck but with the 4.6 just didn't pull my 24' fifth wheel well enough.

Yes, your new truck should be a drag racer compared to your 98. Not only are you moving to the 5.4 but also the 98 was a weaker 4.6 than the newer ones. In 99 or 2000 they introduced PI (Performance Improved) engines which added about another 35 HP. Your new truck should pull the guts out of that trailer compared to your old one.
I sure hope so. Travelling up to northern Arizona was a drag with the 98. There were spots I could almost walk as fast once you got over about 6000 ft altitude.
The 06 has an additional 40hp over the 99-03 5.4L's and with the variable cam timing, you have 85% of engine torque available @ 1000rpm. It should pull that trailer much better!!!
I almost bought one when they had the employee pricing, but decided to keep my 01. It was going to be Wedgewood Blue too with pretty much the same options.
AZ, I used the X plan as well and your right you do save a lot of money with it. I also got just about everything you did with the exeption of power seats and the overhead rail system. I just picked a truck out of the lot. The only major things that I really wanted was the new 3V motor, towing package, 3.73 gears and bigger tires. Everythhing else was a bonus, especially the backing sensors. My wife is only 4'11" so she has a hard time seeing over the tail gate. The truck is great although it came with a couple of scratches from the dealer so she will be in the shop next week.
