Pulled a third member from a 9" at the junkyard with no tag on it. the tag on the door said the axle type was "17". any thoughts? i know its an opened diff, and from spinning the pinion and counting teeth, i came up with a 3.5 ratio...but i couldve counted wrong. i put em in my truck that used to have 4.10's, and wow, they are comparatively very steep. lost a lot of off the line response but expect to see good milage gains.
What year of truck did you pull the rear end out of. From what i was able to find on the vin decoder it said it was a 3.25 but its not for sure since I dont know the year of the truck.

Count the teeth on both gears and divide the large number by the small number and that will give you your exact gear ratio regardless of what door sticker says, because gears may have been swapped before you got it.
