Problem with a dodge

I hope you guys don't care if I ask a question about a dodge on here. My brother just got a 87 dodge ram 4x4 automatic with a 318 v8. The problem is that when the gear selector is in any position except park the reverse lights come on. I have no clue what could cause this so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

probably the NSS neutral safety switch.

Is that on the side of the tranny, or is that something else I am thinking of?

Im guessing the problem lies in the front, ya know, where it says dodge

could be on the lower steering column or the side of the trans
