I have a 1977 F-250 Supercab and have been getting some comments lately about that being a rare combination, and was wondering when the F-250 were first offered with a supercab.

I'd also like to know if my truck could be considered rare.

It's a '77 F-250 Supercab, Camper Special, 4WD, with a 460!

My inlaws had a 76 F250 Supercab. It donated its engine block and rear leaf springs to mine. It was only a 2wd though. My old neighbor had a 74 2wd F250 also. it gave me the rest of the engine.

I believe the first Supercabs appeared in mid '74.

 

I have never seen a "highboy" (early 77 and older 4x4) Supercab F-250. Anybody know if these were ever made?

 

I'll have to agree with the other poster Mid 1974. I have only seen 1975 for sale, but my dad said 1974.

 

I don't believe that the Pre-77 F250 supercabs were available as "hi-boys." They had the wider frame rails like the F150 and the short suspension.

The first year of 2WD Supercab was middle of 1974. January of 1974 is my guess. My '74 brochure litho'd on 8/73 mentioned no Supercab option. It was available on all models, F100-350.

cazroc is correct; NO Supercab highboys existed, ever. The first year for Supercab 4x4s was in 1978.

 

I am in southern cal. I have looked on the net for years. I have heard of the famed 73 supercab, but never believed it. Do you have any info on 73 supercab. Did they have longbeds? I have a 77 w/all og wear. only one little ding. I love my oil eating, gas guzzler. They will never take me off the road. I sold my 1990 ford to buy this. I have owned it for thirteen years. I paid 2800.00ad put 6400.00 into it. I wouln't sell it for anything. If you have picts of pre 74, please send.

There were no Supercabs before 1974. NONE AT ALL.

Whoever told you the story is pulling your leg.

 

1974 was the first SuperCab. If its a 460 in a 4x4 then the 460 is not original. No 4x4s came with a 460 in the 70's. Your 77 SuperCab is sorta rare but its condition is gonna base its value.

 

I know nothing about hiboys. If the first 74 supercab was made, it was made middle or the end of 73. It was made in the year 74, but desigined in 73. I have a 64 &1/2 mustang. Why wouldn't you believe that a truck could be built during the middle of the year? All I know is my truck was built in feb 1977 and sold in march. I have the O.G. paint job carpet and everything else. I only have one ding and one rust spot 1/8 inch diameter. all else is well. I haven't seen a truck in as good a shape as mine that is O.G. Let's verify it with the VIN...that will tell the month produced.

 

Production lines for a model year were run from August---- until July.

ie: a 1977 could be assemblied from August 1976 - Until July 1977.
