Front axle wont unlock
I have a 2000 Exp. the front end feels like it is not unlocking around turns
It feels like it is in 4wd but when you switch to 4wd you can feel the trans case
lock up and pull . When you take it out the front end still binds up like the axles are still locked .

Check for a binding CV joint. I had the same thing on a 96 Tahoe, and was trying to diagnose what it was... sometimes the wheel would do this little jerk to the right... until one day while making a tight turn.... KA-BOOM!!! Not much left of the joint after that.

If you drove on a semi-hard surface, you may be experienciing windup in the drive train. Try backing up 50 or 100 feet with the switch in 2wd. This should solve your problem. Also my transfer case seems to shift better with the transmission in neutral and foot on the brake.
