Another Trac-Bar Question

I suspect that my upper trac-bar bushing is responsible for some terrible sounds comming from under my truck. Would it be OK if I was to remove the trac-bar and just run up the road too see if it is indeed the culprit? I understand what the trac-bar is for, to hold the front end centered under the truck. Im not going to be doing any high speed cornering or any radical driving of any sort. I just simply need to pinpoint the source.

So long as you have leaf springs up front yes, you can remove the trac bar and drive as the springs themselves will locate the axle for you.

Cool, I kinda figured that I could but wanted to hear it from someone else first. Check this out, I have the Fabtech adjustable trac-bar and it has rubber bushings in it. I have seen the one without rubber bushings, it has metal sleeves that the bolt for the trac-bar fits through. They also have greese fittings on them and the manufacture says that the truck will handle better because of no play in the bushings. Do you buy into this? Have you seen it?

Personally, I don't run any trac bar and in most leaf spring applications they're not necessary. However on a new truck you may run into warranty issues without it. The rubber bushings DO allow for more slop in the bar which is why a high quality poly bushing is the best choice. The heim joints on the bar you linked work well too but will transfer more vibration to the frame, so just a little noisier.
