I have purchased an older F100 pickup and have a couple of questions that I can use some help on. Primarily on how to determine what year the truck actually is, it is either a '67 or '68. It has no serial numbers on the door post or on the dash. It has a "Ranger" symbol in the middle of the grill. The heater controls are slider bar types and it has pushbutton doorlocks. Can you help me out?
Thanks,
Gizmo
It sounds like the grille is a 68, but that's just a guess based on what you described.... The grille may have been swapped from another truck.... you might decode your VIN to find out more about your truck's history. Stockman has VIN codes for 1967 on his web page.
It sounds like a 68. The 67 has heater controlles that push in and pull out. Does it have any lights along the side? There is a vin# on the frame I am not sure if you can tell the year from it or not. Eric
I have a 67 F100 and it has the pull-upward style inside door handles, and the outside door handle is a push button type. Some old guy was telling me one of those two things was unique to 67 only, but he could easily have been full of BS. You meet all kinds of interesting people at pick'n'pulls.
LAST EDITED ON 20-Jun-01 AT 00:33 AM (EST)[p]The inside door handle for the 67 is different from the 68-72s, they have the pull up kind. But the rest have a squeeze door handles inside armrests on the doors. I much prefer the pull-up type on the 67s myself.
Also, assuming the truck is all orginial. The 67 had the rear view window mounted to the roof, where the 68-72s had it glued to the windshield. The heater controls are different as mentioned already. And another difference the 67 had was one less horizontal bar in it's grill as opposed to the 68-69s. In 70 they went to a completely different grill that was plastic. And the 67 had reflectors below the tail-lights but the 68/69 didn't. BUT for some reason, they put them back on the 70-72s. Maybe that will help you some, good luck.

I'll look and see about the screws and all. I'm not sure. I know my 67 has them and the parts magazine list them for the 67 and then for the 70-72s. Also I noticed it in looking at the pics in the gallery. I'll get back to you about the screws or not.
