I have a '72 f100 and would like to replace the lap belts with modern shoulder restraints. I've found the bolt holes behind the plugs in the cab...my question is, does anyone have any recommendations for direct replacements? Also, what about sources for shoulder belts.
your not supposed to be able to buy used ones but i used a set in my 72 from a 93 mk8 lincoln. im using buckets and console though. youd need from a later bench seat truck if you stick with the bench.
I have never heard of not being able to buy used ones? I put the entire assemblys out of a 1976 F250 into my 1969 f100 and they worked just fine with the existing seat. The junk yard was nice enough to go through several trucks to find the best right and left stuff to make up a complete set. The only thing that didn't work was the shape of the little plastic covers was wrong to fit my 69 so the inertia reels are exposed. Not that that is a big deal.
I had to drill a hole in the floorboard to mount the retractor portion of the belt. It would not fit in the same place as the lap belt that I remved. Took all of 10 minutes, otherwise it bolted right in.
