351W questions

i am currently converting a 94 EFI 351W to carb. i guess i am going to put in a duraspark distributor, can i use any V8(302, or 351C mabey?) duraspark distributor with this engine? im pretty sure i have a duraspark 2 distributor on my inline 6, is there anyway this can be converted to work with a V8? how can i check if i have a roller cam in my engine? and will 94 engine mounts bolt up to my 86 F-250?

actualy.... anyone ever use a proform HEI distributor in this engine before? i really like those distributor's so i might just go with that instead....

You'll have to have one specifically for the 351W, they all have different shafts and lengths. The 351C never came with Durasprk, it was discontinued before Duraspark came out.

When you pull off the EFI intake to install the carb intake, you can tell if you have rollers or not. The non-roller just has the pushrods sitting in the lifters and nothing else in there, but if you have a roller motor you'll have the spider and dogbones that hold everything in place. These are the extra parts you should see:

And I've heard good things about those Ford HEI-type distributors. A lot of people seem to like them, if you don't have any clearance problems since they're kind of bulky.

when i converted my 350TPI to carb i dropped in a proform HEI distributor. i didnt know they also made them for ford engines untill now. i like them because they are easy to install, no messy wires, easy to modify/adjust and provide plenty of power. i guess its sort of the cheaper alternative to MSD. Thanks for the pic TigerDan, ill be sure to check for that when i start pulling it apart.
