repair or rebuild engine???

Ill start off my saying "Im a welder ,not a machanic" When I started up this morning,A very loud banging, noice is comming from the passanger side of the engine.,like metal to metal ,so...is this a indication of a "blown rod or something else" ? I changed oil 2 weeks ago,its been running smooth ,w/ 267000 miles on it..on a "94 F150 -351" Question is :repair the problem or rebuild the engine??? need help ..thanks

What kind of banging? Like fast like heads or slower like stroke.

i say rebuild, this allows you to get more of what you want out of the motor. ask around for some repitable shops. this is a good time to upgrade the cam 35-255-5 do a little head work and if its needs it a .30 or .40 bore. that motor has done itself proud lasting this long.

Yea I over looked the fact of 267K. If you have a car you drive normaly and ahve this truck for fun. You can pull the motor and strip it and take it to the machine shop have then clean it up and then have a engine just essemble. but if you need it back fast take it to a repitable shop that he said and have them rebuild her.
