New Tundra to be unveiled this week
Sounds like Toyota will be unveiling the new Tundra at the Chicago Auto Show. Personally, I can't wait to see it. I'm just hoping its not another Ridgeline type.
Also Chevy is supposed to show the new Avalanche at CAS. Should give some insights to what the new pickups will be like.
After the way I've been treated by Ford this week (see post in Explorer Forum) I'm taking note of the other manufacturers for the first time in years.

My grandfather thinks that the avalanche is the most useless peice of junk on the road, I'll never forget the first time he saw that truck. Says the same thing about the ridgeline. I doubt the tundra will go towards the route of non seperate bed truck.
Have no idea what chevy will come out with, if they follow suit, they'll try and make a truck look like the F-150. Still wouldn't buy a chevy if I planned on doing some heavy labor.

Toyota is not going for the ridgeline market, they are going more the Nissan Titan route. Towing power seems to be a big driver in full-size pickup marketing today. What I wonder is what happens to this "bigger, heavier, more powerful" market strategy if gasoline and diesel hit $4 this year? I just got 21 mpg in a current generation Tundra (4x4/V-8/automatic), on a run to LA and back this weekend. I'm afraid that the 2007 model will not be able to do that.

If the '07 Tundra is bigger and has the rumored 350-hp V8, Id bet you'd be lucky to see 14 mpg.
Based upon the Tundra spy pics Ive seen, the newer Tundra will have very poor aerodynamics (the grille looks like its off of a Titan) and thats going to really kill the milage. Big V8 + boxy shape = poor MPG

I steered them towards a Toyota Tacoma DoubleCab 4x4 which cost them $28,000 and they are pleased as can be with their new truck.
Im all for buying American, but $35K for a Sport-Trac is insane!

You would have to work real hard to pay $35k for a Sport Trac. I just built one on the ford website. The base price is $24k. The only way I could get close to $35k was to get the Adrenalin package, 4 wheel drive, and leather. Who in their right mind would pay MSRP? With the market right now, a $35k list should sell for about $28k. What was the MSRP on the TaYaDa?
BTW, I found one on Ebay Motors with only 8000 miles on it for $19k.

Ugh!!!
Does anybody else see the Toyota in the new Avalanche??? Come on guys, it's so obvious, look at the rounded windows, the side trim, and the body panels on the side. Too much for me.
I've seen the spy pic of the tundra...and I think Toyota doesn't have a chance with that design. This makes me happy.
