It will make a huge difference if it is a 4*4 or a 4*2. I have a set on an 1981 F150 4*2 and they work fine. My engine mount braces (they are behind the crossmember and and diagonally attach the frame to the crossmember) were notched for a different engine combo years ago, so I don't know if they would clear without a little bit of notching.
