Chev, question :D

Has anyone here ever done a 6.2 diesel swap in place of a 305, 350? I hear they will pretty much bolt up, but wasnt sure. My friend is kind of stealing my idea of putting a diesel in a van, and I will probably help him out. The van he has is an 83, and has a 305 in it right now with an automatic overdrive tranny. Thanks for any info you guys can provide, even though its with a chev, and not a ford!

Yes it can be done, I wouldn't use the trans tho. Get a 400 turbo. You'll need all new fuel lines, and a new fuel tank too. When you get it running loosen the injector pump and advance the timing a little. This will wake up the stinkmeister. The 6.2 was a decent engine just not real big on power.

i would imagine it should not be any harder than doing a ford. wiring for a glo circuit, battery upgrades, motor mounts, and then you have the fuel tank and return lines to deal with. also, you would probably have to regear the rear to compensate for the reduction in overall engine rpms, and change out the front springs for the heavier motor.
