Wheel bearing adjustments

[font size="1" color="#FF0000"]LAST EDITED ON 26-Jun-01 AT 11:48 AM (EST)[/font][p]To adjust the front wheel bearings on my truck I spin the wheel, tighten the nut down snug and then back it off till the cotter pin fits in. I'm I doing it right? I'm still chasing an odd vibration.

1977 Ford F-100

That is the method I use. I learned a long time ago that a little too loose is better than a little too tight!

Wheel bearing adjustments

i go to a vo-tech school for aoto mechanics and my teachers always say 18-25 ft lbs while spinning, back off half turn, then torque to 10 inch lbs
