A good rule of thumb is $500-5,000. Only you can see the truck in question. I would note that the term "Rust free" is relative. You really have to scrutinize the critical areas, most of which I note can't be seen easily, these include the front cab mounts and air ducts, and the upper windshield area , hidden by the headliner. I'd note also, that certain options like AC, auto, 4wd, 460, etc. tend to add points, while mileage, or defects (mechanical or cosmetic, detracts points. Before, you spend thousands, consider spending a few hundred by having a certified mechanic and/or auto appraiser look at the vehicle on your behalf. They will give you good objective data to aid in the decision making process.
