Hi There
This is just a general posting to say that it is great to have a place to find out information on 1979 Ford Trucks. I have a 1979 Ford F-150 Custom Explorer. It is 90% original and it has 135,000 KM's on it. I'll post a picture some day. If anyone has information on common problems with this type of truck and ways to correct/prevent them, I'd like to hear it.
Cheers!
Hi also,
newbie here too. I also have a 79 F-150 2wd. I think its an XLT lariat or something like that not too sure.
Anyhow bought if from a friend so I know the history pretty good. Its got a 1yr old rebuilt 460 w/ a custom cam (something like 550 lift and split duration) not too big, weiand intake, holley 750 vac. sec. headers, dual exhaust, C-6. Its a reg cab, long bed, marron and silver. Needs to have one rust spot fixed on the back wheel lip and repainted.
Int. is awesome, all original, A/C, ps, tilt, cruise, etc...
anyhow nice to find a site to share information at.
I'm new to this site, too, and I think it's great!! I own a '79 F-150 4x4. It's a short stepside,351M, automatic. The only problem I have, besides the play in the steering, is the fact that I can pass everything but the gas station. I put a K&N air filter on it , which improved my mileage to 12mpg from 10.The truck itself has over 150,000 miles on it, and is my daily driver,off-roader,etc., etc.I wouldn't trade it for a handful of Chevys!(Sorry, I said the "C" word!!)My rebuilt motor has 60,000 on it, and I haven't had any trouble from it. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere!!
