Rattles Eliminated
The source was a combination of the following:
1. Middle row seats have a strut to allow them to fall back into their locked place smoothly. The struts were loose when I moved them and I wrapped all the contact points in thin foam and secured with thin strips of duct tape.
2. Seat belt upper mounts - the plastic bolt cover is a source of rattles and again I used thin foam over the bolt and then snapped the cover back on. Also the seatbelt height adjuster will rattle and I haven't found a permanent fix but for now I wedged foam either side of the sliding adjuster just to prove a point that it was a source of rattles
These fixes in combination with the work I did last week on the door interiors (see prior post) have finally got me to a point where the navigator feels like a luxury car instead of a bag of old bones.
Next job is to work on reducing my intake noise
I already know my biggest source of rattles is from the overhead DVD player. I have the all-in-one unit mounted up there and I think it's just too heavy for the brackets it's using. Ideally, I would like to just get a moniter mounted up there and have the player mounted somewhere down low.
