well i got my mbrp installed and it wasnt too hard except for getting it of the stock rubber hangers. if you put in an exhaust buy some longer sawzall blades to cut your old system out. i had some short baldes that kept breaking because they would hit the inside of the pipe on the side opposite the cut i wasnt able to drive to the hardware store so after a few choice words and some work with a hacksaw it was finally out. the mbrp went in no poblem. everything fit prefect. when i started the truck i was kind of dissappointed with the sound. i kept reading mbrp was the deepest sounding exhaust avaliable other than 5 inch and it sounded good if your ear was in the tailpipe but driving i couldnt hear it at all just a little whistle from the turbo so i ordered a muffler delete and it sounds awesome! i wish i wouldnt have wasted my time with a muffler. its not too loud at all but has a very deep tone and no drone. just some advice for you guys looking for an exhaust you can actually hear but not annoying at all just straight pipe your truck
alright now i have autometer z series guages, kwik filter, tru-cool max trans cooler, hypermax 90hp chip, and my mbrp exhaust and i dont know what mod to do next. any suggestions? im only 18 so i cant afford a new trubo or injectors yet but hopefully in the future i will get them. when i bought this truck if someone asked me what i was going to do to it i would have laughed and said nothing because it is a great truck stock but after finding this site that changed in a hurry! all you guys are great

i was thinking about the sonnax kit but im not too sure about it because my truck has almost 200,000 miles on it. what is involved in working on the fuel system? i thought it was pretty expensive
the intank and prepump mods i suggested consist of dropping the fuel tank (it is easy, as long as it has very little fuel in it), i did it all by myself. then you remove the pickup, and modify the connections to get rid of the mixing chamber, that can let air in. the quick disconnect for the pickup is removed on top of the tank, and the QD fitting at the inlet side of the pump is changed over to a regular hose and double hose clampped fitting.
I too was a little surprized at the lack of sound out of the MBRP muffler. I figured that since it was a straight pass thru muffler it would be louder.
Just so you all know, I did a American Thunder system on my 7.3 and could not hear it in the truck. Like you described, if I got out and put my ear near the tailpipe it it sounded good....but I want it to sound like that at 50 paces! I went straight pipe...and I love it. My wife...well....thats another issue.
Try straight pipe and exit before the passenger side wheel, WOW!!! I have a stock exhaust but should be getting my MBRP 4" within the next couple a weeks but with no muffler and straight pipe with a stock exhaust MAN!! sounds awsome. Gonna do the same thing with the 4"
I just installed a 4" MBRP over the weekend as well. And I love the sound with the muffler that comes with it. I to had issues with the stock hangers but a little effort i got them in. I even had to move one of my hangers because they did not line up in the right spot. Not even close. There was already holes in the frame for it. Go figure.
But I am having a problem with the exhuast hitting the cross member bolts. There is only about quarter inch on both sides of the exhaust between the cross member and the transmission. What have you guys done to remedy this. I know you have some tricks I just need to know them.
Thanks
......... I know you have some tricks I just need to know them.
Thanks
The only thing I did was to make sure everything was positioned correctly before tightening any of the clamps. Some areas were close but if I were you, I would loosen everything back up including the turbo clamp. Get it all where you want it and start with the turbo and work back, making sure nothing has shifted after each section has been clamped down.
I have not had a problem with anything touching or banging the frame members since. After running a few hundred miles, tighten everything up again.
Thank you Guzzle92. Your truck is the same as mine except a little longer so you had to have run into this as well. I know the instructions say exactly what you explained about tighten everything down from the turbo back. But when I installed mine I needed a new turbo clamp and the whole thing shifted on me when I went to put the new clamp on. I loosen everything again and get it off.
Thanks a bunch.
