I have a 2002 Ranger, 4x4, auto, with the 4.0 engine with 100k miles. I've recently purchased an econo car so the truck sits during the week for my drives to work, and then I use it on the weekends. Lately, the past few times I've tried to start it, I turned the key, the engine started to crank, then stopped and the doors locked. With the next turn of the key, the truck started normally.
I have never changed the battery, and was wondering (hoping maybe?) that this was a sign of a weak battery, and not something more serious. Has anyone else had this problem? It has generally just happened the first time I tried to start it after not having driven it for a week. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
