My 04' 2.3L gets cut-off just below 95mph. It was still pulling pretty good and I'd guess it would have gone to 110-115 without it. It feels very stable at 90+ but that's just going straight on a smooth surface. I wouldn't want to make any fast lane changes at that speed i.e. a deer jumping out on the road or some truck tire disintegrating in front of me.
my 97' ranger has gone 105 already and she wasn't done yet. It took me to 105 mph to realize how stupid I was going that fast. Boy that thing felt unstable though, you could really hear the tires. I think it probably would have gone right up to 110-120 if i wouldn't have let off. The good news is I killed a Mazda Protege

If the speed limiter and current top end irritates the p*** out of ya then chip it. You should have NP hitting 110 - 120 with an old 4.0 OHV 4x4 in 2X and with 3.73's. And this was clear back in 94. But then again, these are trucks and not muscle cars.
my 2002 cuts out at about 90-91. I got it to go 95 once by taking to 90 down a steep grade and pushing in the clutch just for the hell to defy the computer. I dont need to go faster then that anyways, they arrest you in CA for going over 95 on the highway so i guess it's a good thing.
The ranger is the lowest set speed limiter of all ford vehicles even the focus does about 110.. (what's up with that)
Not that i will go above this speed very often but in a weird way i just would feel better knowing that my car/truck could go over 90 if it really had too.
My Ranger tops out at 90-92 MPH at right about 3000 RPM. Is there anything I can do to increase this? Bypass the limiter? Does the add-on chips help with mph? There are just times that you need that little extra.
