I checked my codes today, because my CEL came on, and i got a CM code 41, which means HEGO sensor circuit indicates system lean on the right side.
I have a couple of questions, does right side mean passenger side, and what is an HEGO sensor? Last and most important HOW DO I FIX A LEAN CONDITION? Could this be caused by a clogged fuel filter, and if so, why is it only on the right side?
I really need some answers because this may be an explanation as to why i've only been getting 10 mpg w/ my brand new 302 that only has 3000 miles on it. By the way, this is in a 1991 F-250.
thanks for the help
Nate

another question, is how can my truck tell if the lean condition is on the right side, when it only has one o2 sensor?, or atleast only 1 that i know about.
The OEM HEGO sensor in my 1992 E150 is stamped BOSCH it also has a nice FORD oval stamp.
Why should we spend the extra $$$ to get the FORD oval if both are made by BOSCH?
I doubt BOSCH tests each and every sensor prior to shipping to either FORD or aftermarket suppliers. I also doubt FORD tests the sensors upon receipt from BOSCH.
Before you go changing that sensor, check out this link, it has some information on the HEGO sensor and some possible causes of fault codes related to it.
Let me know if you want the procedure for testing the HEGO sensor with a digital multi-meter.
the 02 sensor is brand new, so i don't think that is what is causing the problem, I replaced it, along with a bunch of other stuff, when i replaced the engine.
