sometimes when i fire up my truck in the early mornings, there is a what appears to be a sound of moving water or something slushing around for a breif moment. it sounds like it's coming from somewhere on the passenger side of my 1990 F250 460ci. Anyone ever heard of this?
Sounds like air in the heater hoses, every now and then, you will hear water squirting into the core. Disconnect heater hose, raise above core level, and fill with water.
I think my heater has made sloshing sounds every year I have owned it. I don't think I have trapped air, or other problems either. My heater is working very well, there are no leaks, and my radiator and reservoir levels haven't gone up or down for months. I do believe it is the nature of the beast.
The coolant is being forced thru many tiny passageways, I don't thing you could move that much coolant and keep it perfectly quiet. My theory is that the coolant is cavitating as it is forced thru tight holes and passages, anotherwards, gas bubbles are forming due to the swirling motion of the liquid.
All I do on my Broncos and F150 is to remove the upper end of the small coolant hose at the throttle body. This is the highest point in the coolant system. A few seconds after you disconnect it the air will stop and the coolant will start to flow. Reconnect it and you are done.
