Expected #'s?
It seems that its settled now that the new diesel will be a 6.4L with the turbos in series. What kind of numbers should we expect from it? It has to contend with the new 360hp 650ft-lb Duramax LBZ, I've read that 425 hp is possible for a production Cummins 5.9, Dodge may switch to a Mercedes diesel (up to 1000ft-lb's??) and then you still have Nissan and Toyota to worry about (Nissan's diesel won't be an in-house effort). What bar will they have to reach for a 2008 model? How much tq is the current tranny rated for? Thanks for reading.
I was told by my dealer who met with Ford bigwigs while the international auto show was in town that it will match the duramax. I doubt he's blowing smoke up my a$$ but who knows.
Claims twin turbo, making 360 HP and 650 torque

I think he meant ''it's junk'' because its not American. You got Ford,''International'' ! sounds like a strong name, evenDodge,''Cummins'', sounds cool like its got some ballz,......ISUZU HMMMMMM APOOPOO? Chinese for Grandma? Who knows
I think the numbers will match the new Duramax. But then again.... It seems in the past few years, Chevy and Dodge have always beat them in either HP or Torque.... Reguardless of all that garbage.... as long as it is a trustworthy engine, and capible of doing the chores that it is asked to do, then who cares? I was happy with the 7.3L... Of course the cummins had more torque and I'm guessing chevy's HP numbers were higher, but who cares? The 7.3 sure proved itself worthy!
I say we quit getting excited about high horsepower and torque numbers. Sure its all fun, but if you buy a diesel truck to race it, then you don't need one. Thats why Honda and Mazda sell those upholstered rollerskates! Last time I checked... Sensible people bought trucks to put to work, with the occassional play.
