I have an Airaid intake 400-131 on my F-350 PSD. Airaid offers a prefilter 799-128 for it. My question is being that it is an open filter, is it worth the extra money to help keep it clean or is it a waste of money.
Does anybody else have an Airaid with a prefilter on thiers? To me it seems like it would be easier to clean the prefilter more often than soak, rinse and reoil the main filter.
I use the same one. When your talking 30 lbs of boost thats alot of vaccum. I would hate for the open filter to tear and suck something in. I like the prefilter. Im sure some dont, but it could only be added insurance. Pre-filter is like 38 bucks

if you guys want a lil' added performance with the AirAid Stage II 400-131 I am going to be producing lids that will seal off against the underhoos heat.
i bought a prefilter for my airaid filter ,paid 40 dollars for it, but i ended up going back to my oem filter ,because of my high silcon level (dirt) per my engine oil sample. tested it three times, all of them high ,untill i put my factory air filter back on. my silcon level dropped soon as i put the factory filter back on. anyone want to buy my airaid kit and prefilter?
dealer told me that i might be getting too much air because of my filter(airaid). This might have a negative effect on the egr causing it to make my truck act like it has. See Frustrated with my 6.0 thread
I've heard it all now. Want that engine and EGR to really work well, plug off the whole intake......now we're talking. Sorry, that kind of ignorant statement deserved that one.
