Could anybody tell me about how much a used 4.6, 5.0, 5.4 would run me, with about between 70-130,000mi. on it. I'm thinking about doing a swap. Also about how much do you think i could get for my 4.2 with about 158,000 mi. on it.
My guess would be anywhere from $1,000 on up, but why would you? First it would not be a direct swap, so you would need a doner truck. Probably springs, electronics, ect. More money. Plus swaps like that are almost never goes smooth. If you could find someone to buy your V-6 you might be able to get $500 max. Again alot of ifs.. I would say either keep the truck the way it is or sell it and get what you want. Just my 2 cent worth..

Depends on the junkyard. A local "we yank it and rape you" junkyard has a pile of them all cleaned and ready to go... EFI connectors hanging off the sides, undamaged. With most or all of the accessories too. Tagged and marked with what they came out of, and the mileage. $850 each.
If I could find a running engine at my local u-pull-it, it would cost about 400-500 bucks with accessories. The problem is finding a good one when all the cars are in huge piles.
