Canadian Guy

I am modifying a 1 ton mercury pickup. This is a 46, or 47. I am not sure as numbers do not show up as correct. The engine number is J66354 and Serial Number is 412114778399. I also have 2 1948 Ford pickups. I am changing the fenders to 1/2 ton and going to put a 48 1/2 ton bed. I have a 1970 429 ans a C6 that is going in it. I might be selling parts later but for now has anyone installed a 429 in their older ford or merc?

Starter Problems

I put a stroked 351w from a 88 ford bronco and a C4 from a 80 Ford car. I used the correct 157 tooth flywheel for the C4 with with a 50 oz weight. I used the 80 starter and tried the 88 starter and same problem. When I start the engine the starter keeps turning and self destructs. I even dought a new starter and same thing. I put in new cables, solenoid, and even tried a spacer between the starter and where it bolts on same thing. Starter sounds great but wont disengage.

Those old Mercury trucks are very cool. Post some pics if you're able to.
