351 Stroke project

So I have a 84 351W and well it chewed up a distributor and well I tried to install a new one and it broke a tooth. So we have determined that the cam is well screwed. So Im going to stroke the engine while Im in there. Ive been reading and well I think I got the idea? I know I need the 383 stroke cam and the 302 pistols and keep my rods. Do I need a new crank? and will the stock heads hold me till I get the money? Same with the 2B carb? Correct me if Im wrong and well give me the info that I need if you dont mind. Oh yea how much should this run me?

Did you read the other thread about the stroker and his probs. He has the complete buildup info in there even though it is EFI it still applies. I would suggest you do more reading and seraching the net.

First what is a 383 stroke cam? You buy a cam for a 351w that has the proper specs for what rpm you are going to want power.

Second Yes you need a new crank this is where more stroke is coming from.

Rebuild the stock heads and port them if you are planning on running them awhile.

Just remem all the stock components like the head and intake stuff will limit your potential but it won't hurt any to run them.

Cost, first get your block machined. Then you can go to Summit, JEgs, PAW or eBay and buy a stroker kit (392,392,427,454, 460) and lots of other sizes. After machining you can determine your kits needs and the oversize of your pistons needs.
