Question Break Lines

On metal brake lines that screw into either the wheel cylinders or prop. valve, How do I remove them without stripping the hex head (what ever it's called)? What happened is the two front steel lines are messed up and need to be replaced, but not the main line to the rear. Both front lines also stripped out at the porp. valve, so I'm trying to remove the rear line without messing it up so I can remove the prop. valve and finish removing the front lines. Did I make any sense?
Thanks

You made a little sense. Use a box end wrench, or a line wrench. If your fittings are stripped, use some vice grips. I just got done doing this same thing, and the vice grips came in handy.

Hope this helps!

Another thing that might be helpful are open-end wrenches called line wrenches. They have a heavy-duty open-end that wraps around part of the last two sides of the hex on your fitting. A line wrench allows you to put the wrench over the line (like a standard open-end wrench) but is closer to a box wrench in terms of how much of the hex fitting the wrench contacts.
