Im looking to buy a 1999 F150 But dont know if its a good deal or not. It got 70,000 and they are askin 8,000. How far do these trucks go these days? It is in great cond. and has a very clean motor. I just dont know if these trucks are a good buy with these kind of miles. Please give me any input you can give.
That only amounts to 10,000 miles per year...incredibly low. There are a few things to look out for on these trucks though. So post more details about the rig before we rush to conclusions.
Yes, you need to post what engine and transmission if nothing else. Properly cared for these trucks will go several hundred thousand miles. If you don't take care of them they won't go any farther than any other neglected vehicle.
Before purchasing it I would be very interested in how well it has been maintained, mainly as far as oil changes and transmission service.
There are three important criteria when buying any used vehicle. Thes three criteria are: CONDITION, Condition and condition. Ignore color or interior type. Those kind of criteria should be left for new vehicle purchases.

Engine, Trans, Cab, drive, trim, options, condition, maintance. That's what we have to know. More is better. As a point of reference, I have a 2000 F150 supercab, XLT, 5.4, auto, 4x4 ORP, 76000 miles looks and drives like new (Not kidding, I've never driven a tighter 6 year old vehicle). I'd take no less than 13-14K for it.
