Hello everyone,I've found this site while looking for some info, I recently bought a 62 fairlane 500with a 221 v8 engine, it has a overheating problem. as I am restoring the car I took the engine out and stripped it down, when I got to the head gaskets I noticed that the gasket does'nt allow the water to pass through from the block to the heads, I have bought new gaskets but they are the same as the ones that came off ( got them from the same supplier as the previous owner)and have been told that there is only one type for this engine, has anyone heard of more than one type or know if these are the right ones? also both gaskets are the same (metal on one side only) so metal up on one bank and down on the other? just need to be sure they are right before I rebuild it thanks (also posted this in the wrong place before I think)

thats what I've been told but the new gaskets do block a lot of the waterways, and it was built in Canada wondered if they used a different type (the gaskets came from the U.S )
I was mainly going by the size of the holes in the block and cylinders being a lot bigger than the holes in the gasket but that will probably be so they could get the sand out when it was casted I'm just going to fit them and see, it does say front on them. both gaskets are the same just flip over for the other bank.
