Explain this to me...

WHY does double sided tape not stick to plastic trim peices? Anyone know of a good way to bond something to them without possibly permenantly doing damage or leaving marks if removed? This has got me a bit ticked. Thanks.

Try using mounting double sided tape instead. This has a thin layer of foam in between the two sticky sides. I don't know why, but I find this type is much more stickier.

Yes, this stuff WILL stick to plastic VERY good. I can definately vouch for it. This past Saturday night, my truck was in the driveway in front of the house, and I leave my truck unlocked as I lived in a little country place where nothing ever happens, but some dumb **** got in my truck and threw all of my stuff around, stole my cell phone, a Sony portable cd player, and my XM Radio. The XM Radio was stuck onto the piece of the dash that goes around where you turn the passenger airbag on and off ('99 Ranger) with that two-sided tape with the foam in the middle. Well, the dash piece and all is gone. Evidently the stuff stuck so good that it jerked that piece of the dash off along with it. So I think it will hold about anything you're expecting it to.

Some plastic trim also has a mold release film on it that can interfere with any adhesive.

that and most plastic pieces are rather dirty as well. every company that uses any form of adhesive tells you to clean the plastic parts with alcohol first.

Go to a body shop supply store and get the proper stuff.

It is sticky double-sided vinyl strip that will stick for decades.

I like using velcro with the sticky tape on the back .
I used it for the fish finder, gps , and MP3 player in my boat.
Seems to stick well in hot sun and the occasional pounding over waves.
Plus, I can pull them off quick and hide them if im tying up and leaving the boat someplace for a few hours.

After I mounted my XM, I decided to see how it looked somewhere else and when I tried to pull it off, the tape didnt let go and pulled the trim off instead so I guess I am stuck with the radio where it is for now.
