need help with "dizzy"

i have a 68 f 100 with a 360, 3 on the tree. i have the engine apart at this time doing head gaskets, intake manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, rear main seal, oil pump, oil pan gasket, water pump, etc... freshening the motor. well i think that i may have turned the dizzy.... it moved 2 clicks clockwise, but i moved it back(keep in mind this happened when i was holding it in my hand). how can i be totally sure that i have the dizzy in the correct spot? if the dizzy is in the wrong spot what can happen when i try to start it? thanks guys. i am a little worried about this.

One way is, after the intake and rocker arms are on, roll the crank untill the timing marks are at top dead center, watch the rockers to make sure the both close on #1 cynlinder, find the #1 plug wire and set the dist. down into the enginewith the rotor pointing to #1. If it does not set all the way down turn the engine to set pump shaft into the bottom of the dist. and then turn engine around and check it again. You can turn on the key to power the dist. and turn the dist. and check that it will fire, that way you can set the timing and fire the dist. and it will be close to time.
