Check engine light

Ok, well i just got my 88 eb fired up for the first time today since bying from Auction. Motor sound good, but the engine light comes on. Not the check engine light. Whats the difference between the 2?

Oh yeah, oil pressure gauge reads no oil pressure. Yeah, my heart sank a bit, but the engine knocked when i first started up. But went right away. Think truck has been down for a long while so not too worried. But i figure that its getting oil. Just a liitle work left on drive line and a bit of tlc in motor compartment, and she ought to be ready for some fun out in the desert.

For the light, just pull the codes; as for the oil pressure, verify it with a gauge and replace the sender.

Yes........just to make sure.....check the oil pressure with a shop gauge, and then go out and get yourself a decent aftermarket oil pressure gauge, and forget about the stock unit in the dash......they are notoriously crappy.

But if its like you said, and its been sitting a while.....I would try dumping the oil and filter first, and then checking the pressure?????
