OK. I tried a search here and in superduty. Read through several pages and didnt see the answer.
For the 02-03 what size is the fuel tank in a crew shortbox? My EXT LB was a 35+ gallon. I am hoping the crew is the same. I cant find too many LB crew 4x4's.
i think crew cab long bed 4x4's are most popular, with about 30% of all superduties made in this configuration. i believe the short boxes have a 29 gallon midship tank and the long boxes have a 38 or 40 gallon midship tank.
Damn. Was hoping that the 02-03 was a little different. This is what my coworker said about his 06. I guess that I'll have to live with the short box and the smaller tank. I am not going to spend the green to put in a underbody tank. May go the cheaper route getting a bed tank, but already dealing with a short box. I liked the fact that I could go 600 miles on a tank of fuel.
Yeah. I have been debating the bigger fuel tank for a while. One big problem is the toolbox I bought is really deep and wont allow for a tank in the bed. I was looking at a 95 gallon tank for a shortbox- aluminum tank for something like $400 and gravity feed system for an extra $50. I paid $400 for just the toolbox so I cant just ditch it. Then I looked at the underbody replacement tanks, but WOW. Those are pricey.
The under body tanks are very expensive. I wonder if a LB tank would fit under the crew? My dad has an 04 ext cab short box and it has the optional 35 gallon tank. I thought that was a very cool option.
From all the research I have done, yes. All shortbox from ford came with 29 and longbox with 38. There are the ones out there that when someone purchased new, they shelled the extra money for the bigger tank. Those upgrades varied by year and model. My old boss had a dually he ordered with a 59 gallon tank.
I like the tool box/fuel tank combos, although those are very pricey as well, at least for the ones that will auto fill the main tank from transferflow
Northern has those combos and they are not too bad, granted the toolboxes are not the biggest. They sell that $60 gravity feed kit that I have heard really great things about. It connects the big tank to your little tank. It constantly keeps the tank full without overflowing.
