engine jerks and bucks
I have a 2000 Ranger 4x4 with a 4.0 with 75.000miles on it. My problem is that when i slow down from 55mph and then reaccelerate at a normal speed the engine starts jerking and bucking it will do it about 3 times then go away when i give it more gas. It will also do it going up a hill and you need to give a little more gas. It is quite an intermiton thing. there are days it does it alot, there are days it does it once, and there are days that it don't do it at all. I would like a place to start looking for trouble. the plugs are new, getting ready to put new wires on it, the trans has a new filter and fluid. Could it be a fuel filter, or mass air flow??

I have a 1992 ford ranger with the EXACT same problems, same speeds same circumstances...i figured it was also the fuel filter...so i changed it....still does it. so i will try to save you some trouble time and money and tell you thats most likely not the issue....but hey, when you find the answer....let me know!!
