i just purchased new headlights and corner lights...my question is the original corner lights were the orange/yellow...and my new ones are the clear with the chrome housing....they say d.o.t and sae approved yet do i need to get a colored bulb? or is white turn signals alright? legally..thank you
Not sure what the legal issue is, but I would recommend the amber bulb. Won't look as cool as the whaite bulb but for what it's worth, I use my signal to let other drivers know what I'm doing. That's why they're there. I think the white bulb and white lens will blend with the headlights and make them more difficult to see. As side, I've never understood why the tail lights and turn signals are the same (red) color on so many vehicles out there, at a glance I never know if I'm seeing a lane change or a stop.
legally, you need the amber bulb. There are chrome bulbs that light up amber. I run clear bulbs in mine but most of the ricers running around here have blue or green bulbs. I don't see the police pulling them over and I figure the police would give even more leeway for clear than blue or green.
Legally, the bulb needs to light up amber. Legally, you need to have a reflector there as well.....
The chromed bulbs that light up amber in color will be fine and look cool too. Some of the aftermarket lights do not have reflectors and therefore should be used with amber color bulbs, for legal reasons. But, honestly, do what you wish because 9 times out of ten, nobody will bother you if you drive legally.....get stopped and be a smart @$$.....the kind officers will start to be very picky about everything they can find....
My son learned the hard way one night....came home with four tickets!!!
In Michigan, you need to maintain the original equipment that came on your vehicle. There are minimum requirements that apply to all vehicles, but if you vehicle originally came with a particular light, you must still maintain it in that condition.
