another with high idle
ok heres the story im the original owner of a 1991 f 150 auto ,351,2wd,calif emissions,180,000 miles.the truck did not pass the state required smog test ,the teck at the test site it probally needed a tune up.ok i put in new plugs ,a new cap& rotor new plug wires worked fine passed the retest.then the idle started to creep up ,read lots of posts here ,did all the tests ,and started replacing parts .the new iac made it idle faster,put in a new plenum gasket still no change ,disconected the batt. to let it relearn worked for 15 minets then started creeping up again.rechecked voltages at the iac 10volts not running 13 volts running ,i think this 13 vols is to much ,so where does the voltage get set <computer, tps,?>.if 13 volts is ok what other tests can i do ,it does fall to 500 rpm with the iac unpluged no vacume leaks, tps ok ,no codes, no lights,but seams iac related ,any help thanks bruce

It shouldn't fall to 500 when you unplug the IAC, it should stumble and die. The fact that it doesn't, coupled with the high idle problem, makes me want to say that you have a vacuum leak. How are you checking for one?
