Transmission Leak?
I have a 2001 f-150 4x4 5.4 lt automatic. It has approx. 65000mi. Never had any problems before but have noticed that the trans. fluid is leaking a very small amount after driving for 30 min. or more at higher RPM, such as highway. Doesn't do it if just running around town. It's a small leak, but a leak none the less. Any suggestions on the cause or remedy? thanks for any help.

I don't beleive it is the pan, but it seems to run down and collect around the pan. It seems to be coming from the front of trans. I did see a drip from the linkage on side, once. Thanks for your reply.

If you have the drain plug in your torque converter, it could be leaking from there, especially if you've recently changed the fluid. The shop manual says to replace the plug, but almost everyone reuses it. Then they are surprised when it leaks!

If you determine that the tranny is leaking from the front and you have to pull it....change the rear main seal in the motor while you are at it.....just because you can get to it....
Sooner or later, it will start leaking too....
