yeah panel crimping works good. hopefully you didnt buy an airpowered one cuz those break all the time

crimp the patch panel so it fits under the trucks metal. not the other way around and for the wheel well lines or w/e hammer them, bend them, crimp them, butt weld them, w/e works best for you haha... small spots are alright to butt weld but its tricky sometimes. but try to get most of it to match up so its not full of filler

use fiberglass filler (kitty hair, dynaglass, fiberfill, etc etc etc) then body filler. fiberglass doesnt absorb water.

dunno what else i can tell you know other than go slow:P its worth it in the end

Definatly usefull, although I did crimp the first panel the wrong way before you mentioned anything! Oh well, next one should be easy then!
