What seats are interchangeable with the 65-66? I remember reading about some who have replaced the bench with one of the new type with the seat belts built in but wonder how much is involved with the switch. I tried the to search the forum but came up with nuthin.
I replaced mine with a seat from an 89 Lariet. Really looked nice, only had to use the rails from my truck. I think you can use seats from up to 96, 97 and above require you to fabricate mountings. Good luck with your search.
Believe the 65-66 seat is not as wide as the 68 models and beyond, not sure about 67. Also, the back section of seats are attached to bottom simularly from 68 and beyond opening up lot more options. The 68 thru I believe 72 have same seat tracs. Have a 65 and did not want to modify to accomodate seat tracs so took a 68 bottom portion of seat and remove all material leaving tracs and frame only. Obtained an 86 contoured seat, with center console, and attacked the back section to the 68 bench frame. Removed the contoured seat material from bottom section of the 86 and placed in the bottom frame of the 68. Found a reasonable uphostery shop, very please with results. Had to grind small amount of material from level that locks seat in upright position. Also, in order to rotate top section of seat forward can only have one armrest. Fortunately, do not have to make sense of this thread, it is not as difficult as it may sound. Suggest run search in this forum, topic has come up on occasion, probably lots of good information from other members. Found what works for some may not work for others so do some research, review, take measurements, etc. and see what works.
I replaced the seats in my 64 F250 with 60/40 seat from a 01 F150 with the seat belts. It was a pretty easy switch just needed to make new mounting brackets.
I put a seat out of a 1996 f-150 with the lumbar and center arm rest, all I needed to do was bolt on my seat brackets and bolt it in, took about 1/2 hour total.
