Automatic to Manual

I have been looking for a manual transmission F350 for almost 8 months now and to be frank I ‘am a little frustrated. Here is what I intend to do; I ‘am thinking of buying a lifted F 350 (its on E bay, F350 CC, dually, gold color exterior, 7.3L automatic) and swapping the automatic transmission to a manual transmission.

What would be the cost of swapping the transmission?

What would be the cost of changing the exterior color to metallic BLACK or RED?

Also, I stay in VA and the truck is located in NV, how do I contact a local dealer/mechanic to get a report on actual look and feel of the truck?
Thanks,

Find a truck with what you want in it, and just buy that one instead of converting all sorts of things.

Going from auto to manual means different PCM (computer).
Clutch pedal
Hole in floor.
Flywheel.
etc. etc. etc.

Also, painting the exterior another color, when you open the doors or the hood, you'll see the old color, unless you intend on repainting it ENTIRELY, and then, that's expensive!

Just look around, I'm sure the truck you want exists

Good luck finding a Manual. I spent a year trying to find one just to test drive. Ended up ordering my '06 f250 with the 6-speed manual and hoped I wouldn't hate it. Fortunately, I love it.
With the computers in vehicles today I don't think the swap would be worth attempting unless you had 2 complete trucks.

I see this all the time, and every time I think "wow I must have lucked out"

I went online to Quirk Ford in Quincy MA and within 5 minutes located an 05 350 XLT PSD 4X4 loaded AND the 6spd

I printed the sticker out from home, drove down, handed it to the dealer and they pulled it around. It was 1 of 3 on the lot.

I never regretted the 6 spd - awesome tranny - but yes, since everything is connected, doing a swap these days isn't a simple affair (actually never was)

Your better off buying exactly what you need

Mike

PS IF you go with the 6spd, unplug the EGR - there are various views on it but the 6 tends to amplify turbo lag a bit if you start off in low rpms like I do - once I unplugged it was more progressive with zero surging and very minimal lag .... worth the 15 seconds
