Hi Guys,
I just picked up my OLD AIR A/C Unit and they suggest swapping or reversing the Alternator/Passenger side - Compressor/drivers side set up, for a cleaner set up. Makes sense to me.
Has anyone here done an OLD AIR install on a 5.0L serpentine belt set up that included reversing the alternator & compressor?
I'd love to benefit from your experinece!
I remember seeing what you are talking about in my factory manual. I believe it is maybe on a lincoln. I am pretty sure that one of the factory setups has the compressor on the passenger side. I will look tonite. Joe
GW, my factory Ford manual for 84 [and Chilton thru 94] shows Town Car, Crown Vic, and Grand Marq, to have the A/C compressor on pass side. I know my 84 Mustang 302 has A/C comp. on driver side. How will you connect to compressor? I am faced with that decission soon myself. I am planning to splice original A/C fittings to new lines to Vintage Air stuff. At least I hope to. Joe
Joe,
I don't have any e3xtra room between the engine and the rad so if reversing teh alternator and compressor requires anotehr belt I won't be going that direction.
If that's the case I'll have to settle with splicing my old compressor lines intp new ones and routing the compressor lines from the driver side...mess but feasible... that is how the factory did it in 1986!
Same for me. I did buy some hardlines from Vintage Air to hopefully neatly route across in front of radiator, have not done it yet, soooo we'll see. Out of curiosity, what did you do about smog pump? Joe
