Whenever you do business, never accept what a salesman says unless it's in writing. When you are anticipating making a purchase, demand that they produce a copy of the contract that they are going to be offering. Read it. Let the salesman take a break and sit there and read it until you understand all the terms and conditions. Then let the salesman make his pitch, and if he says things that are not covered by the contract, say "OK, let's amend the contract to reflect that claim." Always insure that there are dates, time allowances, penalties and agreed costs for every clause.
If he won't do it, shop elsewhere.
