hello i have a 89 f250 and i want to put a solid front in it i absolutly hate the the the front that is in it now ball joints are gettin bad and that is a yearly issue with that typ of front so has anyone done it and know how 2 it look slike it will bolt up but i am not shure aboutthe steering thanxs
0 post's? come on guys this should be an easy one i have heard of alot of ppl doing this basicly all i need to know is will the steering work or what do i nedd to do and i was also thiniong about putting high bot front springs in it
Why do you hate it so bad, my F150 gives a lot better ride then my solid axle 84 Chevy. Enjoy your kidneys while you have them. If your ball joints are going out once a year then you might have an alignment problem with your front end. I would have that checked out because my 94 F150 has the stock balljoints amazingly in it, and they are still in decent condition.
Like Kem says, do a search. It's been covered in depth before.
If you're going through ball joints yearly, something's wrong. Either the parts are cheap, they're not being installed right, or something else is seriously wrong with the front end. Most people get 100k+ out of the factory balljoints.
yea i agree i shoulndt be putting them in every year there is most likely someyhing wrong? but i dont drive it nice eather i thought it would be easier to just put the solid front cause i got a few laying around but i am gonna pass the truck down to my wife and see dont like the ruff ride like my 78 has so i think i am just gonna put the better joints in it get it alignemt checke di know that is bad it like to catch air and land front heavy well thanks guys
what size tires are you running. that type of front end has a lot of bushings to that may be bad. ball joints and tie rods all work together. also the front bearings need packed yearly to keep things happy
well no please go into it i dont rilly have my mind made up if i got to spend around 400.00 bucks and spend alot of time on it and still have a in my eyes a weak front end maybe a solid 44 is the way to go yea i will lose a bit of a soft ride but i am all about power and as long as it stops and i can keep it on the road it works for me
to put a dana 60 in place if your ifs, plan on spending at least $1000.
unless you have a good friend with a wrecked F350 that will give you all the parts to do the swap
I put a dana 60 in my f250. All bolt on. Very easy install. I don't know what your source for a bolt in dana 44 would be. Go for the dana 60 for strength and ease of installation. Find yourself a king pin style dana 60. Instead of spending money on ball joints every year, you will be changing teflon bushings (about $12 each) every 5 years. Only takes 1 hour to change both sides.
well if i had a solid dana 60 i would put it in my 78 pulling truck i run a 44 in that with a spicer locker 2 sesons on it and i pull it in the 5800lb and 6500lb street leagle class the truck is powerd buy a 472cid pouuting out close to 700hp and havebt broke it yet so i dont see alot wrong with a 44 and i have a few laying around so that is kinda why i want to put it in my 89 from what i can tell the 44 wil bolt right it but it is the steering that i dont know about and also i live in central minnesota if anyone knows of a solid dana 60 front let me know if the price is cheap will pay cash
yea very true i whis i could find a few of them cheap but they go for like 1,300 bucks and i dont wanna spend more than 500 so i have a funny felling i will be running a 44 for awhile so can anyone tell me if the steering will work if i put a solid front on it?
