Mouse in the cab
Hello,
I have a 1978 F100 Ranger Explorer pickup. It apears to have had factory AC but someone removed it because the truck used to live in AK. I have had some problems with mice getting in my truck and making homes inside of the cab. I have the seat out right now because I just pulled out the latest nest and vacuumed up all the pooplets. I have been searching from the inside and outside of the truck for a way for them to get in. I searched around with a flashlight from the inside and found no holes. There was one that was right behind the glovebox (towards the front of the vehicle) above the heater plenum. I filled that one in last time I cleaned up the inside of the truck. I got on my creeper and rolled around under the truck and found nothing. I searched around on the firewall and can find no entrance point. Does anyone know where these sneaky mice could be getting in my rig?
I am going to soak down the interior with Nature's Miracle and hopefully that will get rid of the smell. It is nasty. Any tips on that?
Does anyone know how to keep the buggers out?

I had that problem for awhile, and it really sucked because I couldnt do anything since I was stationed in Hawaii and the truck sat in Wisconsin. But what I did was put a lot of cedar scents in the cab and patched teh holes up on the floorboard. Another area you might want to check is where the fender and the cab bolt together. I have seen a nest in there a time or two. And for the last measure, throw some Decon boxes in areas of your truck, ie, under the hood, behind and under the seat, and in the glovebox. Hope it all goes well for you

"bounce" behind the seat and in the glove box. Most places I've seen them enter is in the inside of the fender below where the door hinge mounts are. If it is parked for a while, then decon boxes inside the cab will help, as no cats or dogs should be able to get inside.

I've been chasing mice out of my pickup for over 2 years now. I think I finally got them stopped. First I filled the holes in the firewall from wiring and missing grommets. Then replaced the worn door seals (the bottom was missing on one side). That helped, but I was still getting mice. Then one day a mouse ate the snickers right off my seat - that was the last straw... I pulled the seat and carpet and found holes in the floor boards. So I replaced the floor boards and the rubber boot where the clutch rod goes through the floor. Now no mice...

It was either Auto Krafters or Dennis Carpenter. I bought it last summer and finally installed it a few weeks ago.

i wouldnt suggest using mothballs the mice around here eat them dont know why but they do. they also leave a horrible smell. i had mice get into my javelin amx one winter then someone said use dial soap bars. you unwrap them and just set em under seats etc. it seemed to work and smell great.
