I'd suggest you look online (google for example) and find the applications of the 4R70W and find out what cars/trucks it was put into. See if one of them was a 351/4R70W. Or, in the process, find a good transmission shop that you could talk to about swapping it in. You may be able to find one that knows how to make this work.
Thanks for all your suggestions mustang! I have actually done that before and apparently the 5.8L only came with the E4OD, but as i found out in another forum, the 302 and 351 bellhousing bolt pattern are the same, so theoretically I should be able to complete a 351W swap.

Youre correct that the 4R70W was used with the 5.4, but it was put into use in late '93 and '94, before the 5.4 was available. As I have the 4R70W in my 94 F150.
