glowplug controler

glowplug controler

where is the white wire and what does the thing look that the white wire runs to?

I don't think you have a white wire. I think you have the older style.

I think there is a picture there of what you have.
I assume you are talking about the controller and relay, and installing a push button.

No white wire on an 86, that was the last year for the old style system.



This is the picture of the relay for the glow plugs located behind the passenger side battery down on the inner wheel well.
The purple wire has been cut in the picture and a green wire spliced in.
To make this system manual, remove the purple wire and install a wire into the passenger compartment.
Hook the wire to a push button or momentary switch on one terminal.
The other terminal gets a wire running to a power source, I recommend one that only has power when the key is in the ON position.

Operation,
Turn the key to ON
Push the button for 10 seconds and release.
Start the engine.

Using a power source that only has power when the key is on is a child proof thing, they can't play with the switch and toast the glow plugs.

ok do i just cuthe purple wire and run it to a push button and run the another one from the swicht to a hot wire

That will work, but if the hot wire is always hot, the glow plugs will heat when ever the button is pushed.
